AT&T Park - A Brief History
Since their move to San Francisco, the
Giants have had a total of three stadiums in the Bay area. Beginning
with Seals Stadium in 1958, then moving to Candlestick Park in 1960 where
they stayed till 2000. On April 11, 2000, the Giants relocated to Pacific
Bell Park, the first privately financed ballpark in Major League Baseball
since Dodger Stadium was built in 1962. The Park features a 9-foot statue
of Willie Mays, known as one of America’s greatest players in history. The stadium also features an 80-foot Coca-Cola bottle and playground slides for children. Pacific Bell Park changed its name to SBC Park on January 1, 2004, then to AT&T Park on March 3, 2006. |
